What is Cyber Essentials?
22nd October 2025
With Interfuture Systems having just renewed our Cyber Essentials certification, we discuss what it is and why it matters.
You might think that this would be a subject for our sister company Interfuture Security, but cyber security is important for Interfuture Systems too. Cyber Essentials is less about security that can be provided, and more about how secure the company in question is, which is why it was vital for Interfuture Systems to renew.
Cyber Essentials is a scheme backed by the UK government, developed by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). Organisations can fill out an assessment to obtain the certification, the purpose being to prove that they can protect themselves from threats and that they are committed to cyber security best practices.
When renewing Cyber Essentials, businesses (including us) need to do the following:
· Review security policies
· Update software and systems
· Strengthen firewalls and network security
· Secure user devices
· Control access to data and services
Afterwards, organisations can take a questionnaire that looks for compliance across various technical areas, ensuring that standards are met.
So, why should this matter to you (and why is it a factor you should consider when selecting an IT services provider)? First, it shows that with us, your personal data is going to be well defended, as the guidelines help to protect against phishing, malware and other attack methods.
Furthermore, our commitment to meet compliance standards and to go into the effort of getting the Cyber Essentials certification shows that we’re willing to put effort in and go the extra mile for our clients. It supports what we say: our security standards are outstanding, and we have the certification to prove it.
If you want an IT solution that is committed to security (our own, and, in turn, our clients’), and you’d like to learn more about Cyber Essentials, then please contact Interfuture Systems.
