After an onsite installation, what can you expect?

Having new IT infrastructure put in place is one thing, but what happens afterwards to ensure everything is working correctly?
Aftercare is important: any healthcare professional can tell you that. If someone isn’t monitored after a procedure, then complications can arise, or problems can be missed: the same applies to your IT after a new installation.
While every IT support company has slightly different methods, we wanted to go over what you should expect to happen after new hardware has been installed. If your IT support failed to complete any of these steps, considering asking them why – ensure you are receiving the best service possible.
Testing: after install, an initial test should be done to check if all the components are working as they should, that the hardware is compatible with existing systems and that, in the short term at least, you as the client are satisfied that the technology works as it should.
Training: users need to know how to use the new technology, be it through instruction by IT professionals or manuals. Additionally, IT support themselves need training, so they know what to expect from the new technology and how to keep it running.
Security: access controls should be set up, ensuring the right people are the only users with access. Firewalls, antivirus and encryption should all be in place, and the system needs to meet minimum industry standards.
Support: the new system should then be added to the workflow of your support team. From there, they can use tools to monitor system health and performance.
Maintenance: as time goes on, your IT support team should continue to help, adding in updates and patches, ensuring systems are backed up and adjusting based on early use to improve overall performance.
Review: your IT team should solve any teething problems, collecting feedback from you on any additional steps that need to be taken. Then additional reviews should be agreed, so that the best level of service continues to be met.
Remember, installation is just the first step of the process: is your IT being taken care over even after being installed? Talk to Interfuture Systems if you feel that another provider could be serving you better.
