Is Microsoft’s Copilot an AI tool worth using? What impact has it had on staff?
Recently, Microsoft unveiled a study* they did with 58 Microsoft 365 Copilot customers (a total of 6,317 employees) to find out how Copilot integration had changed the way people were working. As we look at the results, consider if it may be a useful tool for your business.
Emails – Microsoft identifies email overload as a consistent issue. However, at an organisation with Copilot, users could filter and respond to emails much faster, resulting in up to 50 minutes a day being saved.
There was also a drop in the amount of time spent reading emails: Copilot has a Summarise feature that makes it quicker to tell if an email needs your attention.
Meetings – again, Microsoft in their report identifies a problem and how Copilot can be used to solve it. In this case, they talk about how meetings can be long for no good reason, leading to time spent catching up on work outside of work hours.
Copilot can be used to brainstorm ideas, make notes and quickly produce content, meaning that staff are better prepared for meetings and can answer tricky questions fast, resulting in a reduced need for lengthy meetings.
Output – one company in this study saw a 58% increase in Word document creation thanks to Copilot. The AI can help with drafts, ideas, as well as collaboration and editing. This all happens faster too, more efficiently, with one company seeing a 52% decrease of time spent in Word.
Evidently, Copilot could be a useful tool for you, as it has for the businesses surveyed. By reducing time spent on medial tasks such as emailing or meetings, Copilot is giving people more time to spend on the work that really matters.
