UK Leading Tech Hub in Europe

16th January 2024

According to a new report from the Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA), the UK is at the forefront in Europe for attracting investments from major global tech firms and nurturing start-ups.

Trevor Wagener, CCIA's chief economist and head of the research centre, stated, “These findings demonstrate that the strength of the UK's tech sector extends beyond just the major companies; it significantly benefits workers, businesses of various sizes, and the broader UK economy.”

The CCIA report also underscores the pivotal role of the UK government's digital initiatives in recent years, positioning the UK as one of the world's most digitally advanced governments.

Andy Ward, VP International at Absolute Software, remarked, “The UK's focus on technology in recent times reflects a joint effort among the Government, regulators, and the industry to embrace innovation and compete globally. It's impressive to see the UK emerge as the leading tech hub in Europe, especially in the face of economic challenges.”

He added, “Cybersecurity, in particular, has been central to the UK's tech sector, collaborating with the NCSC, ICO, and Government to defend against state-sponsored attacks, supply chain risks, and the emergence of AI-powered threats. The UK's resilient policy has been instrumental in enabling the tech sector to innovate safely, significantly benefiting the digital economy.”
